| SO WHY KITES? Initially 2020vs started out using kites for photography props because they are typically colorful, light weight, and come in various sizes, shapes, and types. The whole "nostalgia" part of it came back as well. I can remember making and flying balsa wood and newspaper covered kites as kids. Tying rags and other pieces of ripped materials to them as tails, getting tangled up in trees, power lines, and just about everything else. While kites can be fun, relaxing, and creative, they can also be challenging and require skill and effort. Kites are also great for exercise, and they are essentially "Vitamin D on a string!" Nothing like sunshine, blue skies, warm gentle breezes, and beautiful scenery to get you out and flying. The new kite technology has brought kite flying a long way since the days of balsa wood and newspaper. No do you need to run down the street with a tangled kite and string behind you. Not only have the kites themselves improved (materials, designs, aerodynamics), but so have the methods for controlling them - letting them climb, bringing them back in, and steering.
